The Balgzand-Bacton Pipeline (BBL)

Gasunie NV, PO Box 19, 9700 MA, Groningen, The Netherlands, has applied to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry for consent to construct a 235 km long, maximum 1160 mm diameter natural gas pipe-line starting at Callantsoog in the Netherlands and ending at Bacton Gas Terminal, North Norfolk in the UK. In accordance with the above mentioned Regulations, this application is accompanied by an environmental statement; copies of which may be inspected between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on business days at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Atholl House, 86-88 Guild Street, Aberdeen, AB11 6AR or Sheringham Library, New Road, Sheringham, Norfolk, NR26 8EB until close of business on 11 August 2004. Copies of the application for consent and the environmental statement may be obtained from Gasunie NV, PO Box 19, 9700 MA, Groningen, The Netherlands at a charge £2 for each hard copy, and free of charge for each CD copy of the environmental statement. The documents can be requested by email and the summary of the Environmental Statement can be downloaded from the BBL site:

Members of the public have until 11 August 2004 to make representations in relation to the application to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
