The Project BBL

The BBL is the first gas pipeline between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The latest techniques have been used to lay a pipeline system that will guarantee the reliable and safe transport of gas from the end of 2006 onwards. The gas flows from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom. If market conditions make it possible in the future for the gas also to flow periodically from the United Kingdom to the Netherlands, separate technical facilities will have to be added for that purpose.

The BBL has an overall length of around 235 kilometres. Four kilometres of onshore pipeline: the connection between the compressor station in Anna Paulowna and the beginning of the offshore pipeline at Julianadorp. After the dune crossing follows a 230 kilometre offshore pipeline that terminates at Bacton. In Bacton the pipeline is being connected to an existing gas terminal.
