BBL Company has built a gas pipeline that creates a link between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The pipeline has been named the BBL (Balgzand Bacton Leiding) and is being built by Gasunie for BBL Company.

BBL Company is a joint venture between subsidiaries of Gasunie, E.ON Ruhrgas and Fluxys. The gas flows from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom.

The BBL forms part of the five major future gas projects that have been given priority by the European Commission. The pipeline will ultimately form the principle part of a direct link between Russia and the United Kingdom. Russia is planning to build a pipe from St. Petersburg through the Baltic Sea to Germany (Nord Stream).

BBL makes a considerable contribution to the development of the new connections and the further integration of the European market. BBL provides the means to strenghten security and flexibility of supply in the UK and in the Netherlands. For the Netherlands BBL represents a strengthening of the Netherlands as a gas country.
